A school which was established by the people of New Wenchi (Aputokrom) and was inaugurated by the former first lady Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings in 1992 is now enrolling pupils under trees.
According to our reporters the school since its establishment have lacked learning materials and teachers which can help enhance a child education.
Currently, the school is located under a tree few steps away from a market and studies on Tuesday becomes difficult because it is a market day for people of New Wenchi (Aputokrom) which the noise from the market won’t permit studies to go on.
The case even worsens in the afternoon as teachers and pupils will have to move in the direction of the shade to avoid the scorching sun.
After all this tussle, a student would have to travel close to 2 hours before one can access Junior High School Education.
When our team got to New Wenchi D/A Primary, there was only one trained teacher, 6 pupils’ teachers and 1 community teacher.
