Zambians don’t desire a thief for president - Chipepo

CHIEF Chipepo of the Tonga people of Gwembe district says Zambians do not  desire a president who will concentrate on stealing public funds once voted into office.

He said in an interview that Zambians need a president who will concentrate on developing the country.

“We want to see things change and we need a president who really wants to develop this country, not a president who concentrates on stealing public funds. If we happen to have a thief [for a] president, that president will not be part of us chiefs… there is a lot of wealth in this country but people are poor. Yet God says ‘silver and gold is mine’,” chief Chipepo said.
He said real wealth could only be realised in Zambia by having a rightful and God-fearing president.

“Mind you, Zambia is a Christian nation, so we need a godly person to be a president of this nation, a person who fears God,” chief Chipepo said.

He added that Zambia deserved a president who would create employment for the jobless youths.
“We would like to have a president who knows what entreprenuership is for our children. Not [that] everybody should be looking for jobs. We would want youths to be empowered and be self-reliant,” chief Chipepo said.

He urged people to vote for a president who would also develop rural areas.
“We would like whoever becomes a president of this country to develop rural areas and people should vote for such kind of a person. We want a president who talks of rural development, a president who will continue developing rural areas like president Michael Sata did. I liked Sata because he meant well when it came to rural development,” said chief Chipepo.
