Kenya: MP Urges Deputy President Ruto to Ignore Raila's Offer to Testify at ICC

Meru County Women Representative Florence Kajuju has advised Deputy President William Ruto to snubCORD leader Raila Odinga’s offer to testify in his favour at the International Criminal Court.
Speaking in Meru town, Kajuju said Ruto does not need Raila’s help as judges have not said whether Ruto has a case to answer or not.
“Mr Odinga’s offer is premature. The ICC judges have not said whether our DP has a case to answer or not, so I find his philanthropic gesture suspect,” said the legislator.
She argued that Ruto has a competent legal team and the counsels will decide if they need the opposition leader’s help to testify in favour of their client.
“Raila is seeking political mileage out of this. Ruto should turn down his offer. He is capable of fighting his own wars, as he has proved many times before,” said Kajuju.
She said prosecution witnesses were recanting their statements, a clear indication that the case against the DP was crumbling.
“We are praying that the judges return a verdict of no case to answer as soon as possible so that the DP is free to deliver pledges the Jubilee Government made to Kenyans,” said Kajuju, who chairs a regional integration committee.
She praised the AfricanUnion for launching efforts to start an AfricanCourt of Justice.
